Morgan was founded inside 1867 as an Episcopalian seminary named the Centenary Biblical Institute to traaround young men in ministry. It down the road broadened its mission to educate each men & women when teachers. A school was renamed Morgan College around 1890 in honor of the first chair of its Board of Trustees, who donated land to the college. Around 1915 Andrew Carnegie gave the school the grant of $50,000 for the central academic building. Morgan became a public institution inside 1939 once a state of Maryland purchased the school to provide supplementary chance for its melanise citizens. It renamed Morgan State University around 1975.

Close to 6,005 undergraduates and 616 graduate students attend Morgan, about 35% of a children come from either either outside the State of Maryland, including numerous from foreign countries.
